Knuth

Flipping through the mail one day the familiar maroon-tinged Stanford letterhead stuck out. Below it, clearly typeset, Donald E. Knuth Professor Emeritus of The Art of Computer Programming.

Several months earlier I was reading through Knuth’s Selected Papers on Computer Science, and being well-aware of the ur-bug bounty and vaunted Knuth Cheque reluctantly decided to report an error I’d found. (Admittedly, nothing substantial—thankfully Knuth is a stickler for correctness.) I shipped off the email and promptly forgot about it.

I now had a balance of 0x20¢ at the Bank of San Serriffe.
